Creating Releases

This guide walks you through creating a new release in Release Pilot.

Prerequisites

  • A project must be created
  • At least one product must exist in the project

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Navigate to Releases

Go to the Releases section in your project.

2. Click Create Release

Click the "Create Release" button.

3. Fill in Release Details

Enter the following information:

  • Release Name: A descriptive name (e.g., "Authentication Service v2.0")
  • Version: Version number following semantic versioning (e.g., "2.0.0")
  • Product: Select the product this release belongs to
  • Planned Release Date: When you plan to release this version
  • Description: Detailed description of what's included in this release

4. Set Initial Status

Choose the initial status:

  • Created: Release is created but not started
  • Pending: Release is waiting to begin

5. Save the Release

Click "Save" to create the release.

Best Practices

  • Use semantic versioning for version numbers
  • Provide clear, descriptive release names
  • Include detailed descriptions
  • Set realistic planned release dates
  • Update status as work progresses
